STARR THERAPY SERVICES

ADULT THERAPY

Humans are social beings – we are not meant to do this life alone. This means we all need help sometimes. We want our clients to brag about being in therapy. We want you to take pride in reaching out, working on yourself, exploring your struggles, and honoring your needs. Our objective is to use our wide variety of skills to help you achieve your goals. Common goals we help our clients meet are reduced anxiety or depression, improved sleep, or effective communication skills.

COUPLES THERAPY

Our goal is to help you solve your immediate relationship issue and create long-lasting solutions that will aid in both partners’ communication, interaction, and displays of love throughout your relationship. We ensure couples have a safe space to learn, practice, and ultimately master the key skills to a healthy, satisfying, and meaningful relationship.

CHILD

Our approach to therapy with children is dually focused: we teach children how to cope with their feelings, modify their behaviors, and ultimately overcome the issues that brought them to therapy.

PARENTING/CO-PARENTING

Parenting is hard. And it’s no secret that communicating with a person who’s no longer your spouse can be even harder. Research has shown that when parents are able to put their differences aside and work to establish a post-divorce family that is not characterized by conflict, most children are able to adapt well to the changes in the family structure.

ADOLESCENT/TEEN

Being a teen is hard. It is a critical time in human development, as teens undergo significant changes in both their bodies and brains. When these difficulties are dismissed as “just teens being teens,” we fail them. As teen therapists, we are here to give your children tools and skills so that they can successfully negotiate those obstacles. Therapy for teens will open up your child’s communication so they identify and express their thoughts, feelings, and emotions effectively.

PSYCHIATRIC MEDICATIONS

Our Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PNPs) brings a compassionate blend of medical expertise and therapeutic care to our practice. As an advanced practitioner specializing in mental health, she will assess, diagnose, and treat individuals with psychiatric disorders, offering personalized treatment plans that combine medication management with counseling and psychoeducation. She will collaborate closely with our team to ensure holistic care, empowering clients to navigate their mental health journeys with resilience and support.

TYPES OF TRAUMA TREATMENT

We tend to think about trauma as huge, life threatening events but it can also be abuse, divorce, moving, bullying, physical illness, death of a loved one, surgery, harassment, living through a pandemic, political upheaval, etc… Thinking of trauma in this way means trauma is part of life – it is so common, in fact, that we may not even recognize it.

Trauma responses look like over-thinking, hypervigilance, rage, isolation, overworking, people pleasing, self sabotage, etc.. It can also look like the opposite – depression, numbness, shut down, and freezing. The goal of trauma therapy is to help you regain the sense of safety, balance, peace, and happiness that you deserve.
